Top 10 honour for Hartlepool primary school

A Hartlepool primary school has been named among the top 10 schools in England when it comes to listening to feedback from staff.

Brougham Primary School is celebrating after landing the prestigious Edurio Award following a recent survey.

Edurio is a leading provider of staff feedback surveys for schools and school trusts and supports thousands of schools nationwide.

Brougham Primary, one of ten schools under the umbrella of Ad Astra Academy Trust, has been named a winner of the Staff Feedback in Action Award, recognising schools where staff say their feedback leads to visible action.

The award is based on Edurio’s national analysis of staff feedback, identifying the top 10 schools in England for the question: “How often do you see that your feedback to leadership has impact?”

The recognition highlights responsive leadership, open dialogue and a culture of continuous improvement at Brougham Primary School.

Sarah Greenan, Headteacher at Brougham Primary School, said: “We are absolutely delighted to win the award.

“As a school leader it is so important to listen to staff, parents, pupils to help us continually improve and give every child the best start in life.”

Ernest Jenavs, Chief Executive Officer at Edurio, said: “Congratulations to this year’s winners of the National Staff Feedback in Action Award. Leaders in these schools acted on what staff told them and made sure staff knew what had changed as a result.

“Hats off to the leadership team at Brougham and to every member of staff who took the time to share their views.”

Andy Brown OBE, Chief Executive Officer with Ad Astra Academy Trust, commented: “Effective two-way communication is a top priority in all of our schools. To be judged among the top 10 schools in England is a significant achievement and I am very proud of everyone connected with Brougham Primary School for winning the award.”

In total, almost 2,200 schools in England completed Edurio’s Staff Experience survey during the 2025/26 academic year.

Brougham Primary School has 343 pupils on its school roll between the ages of aged 2 and 11. The school motto is ‘Be everything you can be’.

The other primary schools under Ad Astra Academy Trust are Barnard Grove, West Park and West View in Hartlepool, Crooksbarn and Rosebrook in Stockton-on-Tees, Ayresome and Sunnyside in Middlesbrough and Deaf Hill and Kelloe in County Durham.
